Celtic Pottery by Colm De Ris, Ireland
Colm De Ris Irish Celtic Pottery
From the artisan studio of potter Colm de Ris comes this extraordinary hand-thrown Celtic pottery and tableware. Luminous glaze in the deep blues, purples, and umbers of twilight melds with delightfully unexpected shapes, finely crafted, to transform your table into a work of art
Colm was born in Dublin in February, 1969. in his early years he attended Mrs. Carroll’s craft courses at Pine Forest during the summer holidays and it was here that he first fell in love with creating objects from clay. In September, 1996 Colm launched his own Celtic pottery craft when he acquired a unit at the Liffey Trust Center, East Wall, Dublin.
His pots which are all hand-thrown and hand built, come in strong colors, rich blues and deep reds with sweeping shapes creating a modern Celtic feel. The high gloss finish is achieved by firing his work in a gas fired kiln to porcelain temperatures which not only adds to the aesthetic beauty of his work but also makes it suitable for use in ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers.
