Celtic Prints
Celtic Prints featuring the lost art of hand lettered illuminated manuscripts
by Kevin Dillon

For centuries, prior to the invention of the printing press, monastic artists have been hand lettering, illuminating and painting books and scrolls on parchment. In the tradition of The Book of Kells, Celtic print artist Kevin Dillon has rediscovered the same medieval techniques of the ancient monks. The artists makes his own paint by crushing semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, cinnabar, and azurite. His letters are meticulously applied by hand using a dip pen or goose quill on to a calf skin vellum. Then his vibrant colors are applied one by one. The artist seal is imprinted into molten, charred wax and applied to the bottom of every piece. These matted 8 x 10 Celtic prints are a treasure for any home and a welcome present.
